    Displaying Unicode...only getting square Characters

Using ST int'l, I am calling the wide versions of some fucntions from wininet.dll. When i call SetCurrentDirectoryW("dir") it works fine...

but, when I call GetCurrentDirectoryW(), I get boxes then a letter. I assume this is because I am getting a unicode string, but silk only displays boxes, how can I display the actual text?

    thanx

Which OS are you using? Does the directory contain double-byte characters? Do you have the correct font installed?

Re: Displaying Unicode...only getting square Characters

Running win2000. The ftp server I am connecting to is all ansi, no unicode. I Have to use the wide versions of the dll functions because I am running STi. If I use the Ansi versions of the dll, I get blank output, and the functions fail to execute.

I am unsure if I have "the" correct font. I do not know where to get the correct font.

    Thanks for the reply

    This may be useful:

Run Window's help and enter "unicode", then select "To display non-Unicode programs in their native language".

This did not change things; still only seeing unicode characters (squares)

I am going to try and install a unicode font

    1. Again in that same "unicode" help section mentioned earlier, consider the entry for "To install or remove code page conversion tables". I'd suggest code page 850 as a generic one that applies to a large number of european languages. Use your intended languages as a guide to your selections.

    2. Note that Segue support might have some useful insight into how you must have STi configured to see the actual characters.

    3. It might also be informative to translate the characters in those file names to their ASC() equivalents to see where they are in the chart.
