    SilkTest 6.0 is NICE..

I attended a web seminar for ST6.0 and I have to addmit it is not bad. Some of the features like automatic update of window declaration and tree view look like LoadRunner & QuickTest, is really nice. And they didn't take away any of the previous functionality.
    Great Job you Segue Developers..

SilkTest 6.0 will be available this quarter. A confirmed ship date will be set in the near future.

In the meantime, be sure to attend the Webinars we have set up for customers. An email was sent to all SilkTest customers about it. Additionally, a Webinar series for prospective customers will follow in the near future (November 13 and 14).

In the Webinar, Mike Ruggiero, SilkTest Product Manager, presents 6.0 and demos the major highlights in this release.

Join us and check out 6.0!

    Re: SilkTest 6.0 is NICE..

When a control ID for a window changes in our AUT, and we record a new testcase and enable automatic updates of our inc files, the new tag will be recorded as a whole new window. This is a problem in that testcases we recorded against a previous AUT build are now referencing a defunct window. We need some sort of notification, at least, when new windows are created so that we can see whether or not these are indeed new windows, or just old wine in a new bottle.

    To DJGray:

When you say it compiles for each 'intellisense' feature, does it give compile errors? Because we have a ton of code, and if does the linking and full compiling on each line.... For us if we did a full compile right now it would take about a minute.

AG, Does your window caption change? Does Silktest recognize the new window as the old window identifier name when you do Record Identifier? The new update windows feature will use the same algorithm to resolve the windows identifier as the Record identifier.

    Re: SilkTest 6.0 is NICE..

The intellisense/autocompletion wont give out any compiler error. Although I call it compiler, it is not the regular compiler. The two compiler share some codes, but not the same. The intellisense compiler is light weight and designed to run quickly.

In theory, it will check the linked library's edit date and compile date, if it is outdated, it will perform recompile. So, even if you have tons of files, if you only change one, then only one file is recompiled.

Please note, intellisense compiler can use the regular compiler result. If you never perform a compile in a session, the interllisense compiler has to perform its compile when the functiontip/membertip is required. That why it is slow when you type the first ".".
