Method to make ftp connect and calls via Silktest

Is there any way to make an ftp connect and issues commands from within a Silk script.

Certainly. One method is to run FTP in a DOS window, use TypeKeys to send commands, and copy/paste to see the results.

This link, which popped up from a search (see link above) of QAForums may be helpful: http://www.qaforums.com/Forum1/HTML/002469.html

Looking for something a little more elegant.

You can call the windows .dll directly -- take a look at wininet.dll. Of interest might be:

    InternetOpenA
    InternetConnectA
    InternetCloseHandle
    FtpSetCurrentDirectoryA
    FtpGetCurrentDirectoryA
    FtpPutFileA
    FtpGetFileA

We've successfully wrapped and used these in our framework -- and the implementation is pretty straightforward if you're remotely familiar with WinDoze api programming ...

    Hope that helps!

Is there a function call to do an mget or an mput

Not that I saw ... but I didn't do an exhaustive search.

It looks like they (MS) implemented mput by doing a FileFindFirst/FindNext and calling put in a loop.

Re: Method to make ftp connect and calls via Silktest

I've attached a .zip file with a simple test script (foo.t) and the include file (ftp.inc). This shows using the mechanism to put (or get) a single file. It's not perfect, but it works in our world. If I had it to do over again, there are a lot of "nice to haves" that I'd include (like allowing an mput or mget).

Note that I'm including msw.inc in the script and not the .inc file -- that is because I had to peel apart our stuff to give you this example. mws.inc is usually included in our framework.

Holler if you have questions, hopefully my quick annotations are reasonably clear.

Re: Method to make ftp connect and calls via Silktest

Thanks. Any idea what the mget or mput would look like?

I'm guessing you would need to make a function call (somehow) to get/put the list of files (based on something like *.txt) and then loop through to get/put each one. The questions is what do the calls look to get the lists and such

    Thanks in advance
