    database comparison

    HI all,
I am working with Access files and was wondering if I can use Silk Test to compare the new version of the same database with the similar old version: like field to field.
    Thanks Yukti

    Re: database comparison

    ... yes ...

(gee, should I be mean and stop here? nah ...)

First, I sincerely doubt that anything other than an exact copy of the .mdb files would successfully binary compare, so that's likely not an option. You could try it and see what happens ...

    But, you could:

    1) Open an ODBC connection to each DB
    2) Read a record from each
    3) Compare the data
    4) Loop to (2)

Another option would be to "dump" the data to .CSV files and text-compare the files.

Hope that helps get you started.
