SilkTest on Unix for Non Java based UI\'s

Has anyone had luck using Silk for testing XWindow based UI's on Unix(Solaris, AIZ, HP, Linux).

Does SilkBean support doing this.(I am guessing it can be used only for Java based Apps running on Unix..)

    Thanks
    Sri

You are correct. The bean is a java specific piece. My understanding is that there is a Unix agent. I've never used it, but there are others here who can speak to its use.

    Hi,

We have used QA Partner (the old name) on HP-UX on Motif applications. The system uses the X libraries and doesn't differ so much from the Windows version. The problems are naturally the 'custom' window controls, or 3rd party controls used. And since Segue doesn't support that QA Partner anymore, so no possibility to any updates, or to complain about any faults found.

Silkbean we have tried to use, but for some reason it seems that not all 4test items are implemented there. E.g we would like to use system calls, but those do not seem to go through.

SilkTest for Motif (formerly called QAPartner) is made for Motif widgets. XWindows is a different animal altogether. Won't play with it.

So am I mistaken? Is there not a "Silk Agent" for Unix?

There is an Agent, but it is called QAPartner on Unix. SilkTest's agent was able to talk to the Unix agents though. I haven't verified if the SilkTest 6.0 for Windows agent can still talk to it, but I imagine it can. Just keep in mind that no browsers are supported on Unix though.

Okay, so it goes back to Partner days. I imagine then that it is not a "supported" feature.

    Thanks!
