    silktest 5.5.3 help system

In the new silktest 5.5 sp3 the help system has been worked on. They finally added hotkeys back into the help. This is great.

Problem is that now when you copy some text out of the help it grabs some Segue copyright info. For example this is what you get when you select and copy the example line from the help for the click() method:

    object.Click ([iButton, iXpos, iYpos, bRawEvent])

    Segue Software, Inc.

Ok, since it grabs multiple lines silk wants to have it indented all the way to the left. This heavily messes up my testscript/include files. Is there a reason segue did this? Is there a workaround? Frankly I have been throwing the copied lines into a text editor before putting them into silktest. Would be nice to copy right out of the help again. Thanks.

    Re: silktest 5.5.3 help system

I've been assured that this will be fixed in 6.0. I tried it on the beta and found that it does not include the copyright info. Maybe Segue could post the replacement help file to their website? (hint...hint)

    Re: silktest 5.5.3 help system

that would be nice because the current help system is soo much better with hotkeys(I am a hotkey person and avoid the mouse like the plague) but not being able to copy and paste from the help makes it pretty much useless. I am considering copying the old SP2 help files over the SP3 ones.

Another thing I would like to see is copy and paste fucntionality from the library browser. We have many custom functions defined in there and it would make it immensly helpful to be able to copy and paste from library browser.

    Hi All!

Just to clarify, this issue was corrected in the Hot Fix that was just released for SilkTest. The link James included above goes directly to the SilkTest downloads page on Segue's Web site.

    Cheers!

    Re: silktest 5.5.3 help system

ok, kind of a problem with this fix. It fixes the copyright problem but bring back the older problem of hotkeys not working. I reported a bug to tech support in ireland about 4 months ago and asked if they can add hotkey support to the help. They guy said he would put it in as a request and it would probly make 5.5 SP3. Well in SP3 I tried the help and was elated to find hotkey support. This fix looks just like the old help from 5.5 SP2.

This may not seem like a big deal for most people, but I am a hotkey fiend and avoid the mouse like the plague. The hokeys would be very helpful to me.

Is there any plan to put this back in at a later time? Thanks.

Segue responded pretty quickly to this one...

    Re: silktest 5.5.3 help system

    update:

I have been working with susan cassidy and have found that the hotkeys are there in the help but that the left pane needs to be expanded slightly for them to be visible. There is still somewhat a problem however.

When you expand the left frame the text on the tabs becomes visible and you can use hotkeys. Problem is that when the pane is collapsed and doesnt show the text(like the default view) the hotkeys do not work.

Still have to use the mouse but once you just expand that frame you can use your hotkeys again.
