WebTesting - Howto Verify that a page is loaded

I've been writing some scripts to test our website and I've had peoblems verify that the expected pages are loaded properlly. At the moment I use the page header (when available) to verify that the page I expect is loaded, but this approach fails many times when:
    - a page has no header
    - the page header is dynamic
    - I'm working with frames where the page/frame header does not change, but the contents of the page changes

What is the best approach to verify that an expected page/web content is loaded succesfully, that would also help me evaluate the time needed to laod the web pages.

    Thanks for your time.

    regards

Why not verify that a unique control for that page is available?

There's also a property for the load time of a page:
    rGetLastLoadTime= browserpage.GetLastLoadTime ( )

Re: WebTesting - Howto Verify that a page is loaded

Browser.WaitForReady () will wait for most web pages to finish loading.

You could examine the caption of the page, the URL, or some specific set of objects you expect to find on each page.

    Browser.GetCaption ()
    Browser.Location.GetText ()
    BrowserPage.HtmlText ("WHATEVER").Exists ()

    Hope this helps.

    silverter,

I face this same problem daily. Typically I'll do what derekk has suggested and look for a specific object on the page; a button or maybe a table.

While table not exists && iWaitTime is less than some value, say 60, have the application sleep for a second and check again.

Re: WebTesting - Howto Verify that a page is loaded

What is the condition when the page doesn't load properly? Are you getting a different page or something similar to, "This page cannot be displayed"?

If the latter, you may want to check for a failure to determine if the page loaded successfully. Absence of a failure message means a page loaded.

Re: WebTesting - Howto Verify that a page is loaded

Each page on my site has a copyright, so what I do is verify that the copyright text exists.

I check the copyright (located at the bottom of each page) so I know the entire page displayed (when we have problems with our sql database the rest/bottom half of the page does not display).

I also do a get name of the page, i print the name so I can verify it in my results.

You can also have expected list of page names/captions, compare expected and actual (getname). If it doesn't match your case fails.
