    QAPartner and ACCESS

WEll folks I am fairly new to QA Partner. Before you ask I am forced to use QA Partner, co. won't update to Silk. I have many years writing in VT and am very expert in it.

One of things I loved about it was I was able to put all my data into an ACCESS DB and utilize it directly from my scripts.

So, my question is there any way I can do that in QAP? I've looked and looked and can't find anyway. Do I need to write a custom DLL to support ACCESS SQL Calls?
    Thanks all

If I remember right QAPartner was broken down into "Add ons" One was the Db Tester add on. Do you have that one? If you do your in luck you have the db commands.

Otherwise you could automate an application, like Query Analyzer that you can write sql commands and receive results from.

    P.S
I know how you feel about Access. Don't leave home without it. I have written some really cool things in it. I have even written some complex data (test data) entry systems that Silk then pulls the data from.

No unfortunately we don't. I guess I'll write a DLL and share it. At least they give me access to C++ and VB

    Re: QAPartner and ACCESS

Support for QA Partner was dropped several years ago so there's not much point in continuing to pay for it. It's a primarily 16-bit system anyway. Owning copies does have value in that you can update QA Partner licenses for a 50% discount towards Silk.

Early Silk was slower and far more error-prone than a newly hire test tech. I seriously considered Winrunner at that point (shudder). From version 3x on though, its been quite solid.
