Unable to test web app after windows app

I'm a newbie using 5.5SP3. I created scripts that successfully tested a web app. Later I tested a windows app. Now I can't test the web app. The error message I get is "Unable to start Internet Explorer 5". I verified that I reset the runtime options and extensions correctly. In fact, Silk does start IE, but it doesn't load the default base state URL (const sLocation). Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Unable to test web app after windows app

I'm using IE 5.5 on Windows 2000. I'm also using the VO extension because I'm doing cross-browser testing. SilkTest sees my browser and can record the window declarations. However, I still can't run the scripts I already created.

Check your Runtime Options and Extensions settings.
If you are not already doing it, take advantage of using the Options Sets. You save one for your Windows apps and one for your Web apps and when you're ready to switch, you just close one and open the other --- and all your settings will be there for you. Enjoy!

Re: Unable to test web app after windows app

I did check my runtime options and extension settings. They were correct. I had a similar problem a few days ago. The only thing that worked was uninstalling and reinstalling SilkTest. In desperation, I just did that again, and now my scripts run. Obviously I can't keep doing that!! I'll try your suggestion of creating different option sets. Thanks for your help.

did you update your browser to version 6, if that is the case install service packs from silk or switch back to version 5, an other way of knowing if browser is getting recognized or not is to open up silk and browser window and from silk Record/Window Identifiers point it to the Browser and see if silk recognizes it or not. if it does you are all set. hope this helps
