    SilkTest for Grids

    Hi All,
I am working on an application developed in VB which uses Sheridan grids.
The testing of this application needs to be automated.
Silk Test has been provided to do this automation.
Now the problem is that I cannot make Silk Test to recongnise grids and individual cells of the grid.
Does any body have a solution to this problem?

    Thanks

You might get more responses if you post in the SilkTest forum.

Question - does SilkTest see the fields in the Grid after you click or tab into the field? I've worked with Grids before that SilkTest couldn't see well until they were in focus.

    Re: SilkTest for Grids

I have done what you need to do (except to communicate with Dundas Software 'Ultimate Grid'). What you need to do is build a DLL which links with Sheridan's Grid classes. This DLL will interface between 4Test and your application, and you will need to register functions in your 4Test script. If you want details of how to achieve this, reply to my reply (or e-mail me at AlastairNel@uk.ibm.com) and we can go into it in more depth.

    Regards,

    Alastair.

    Re: SilkTest for Grids

You can use the record class facility in SilkTest to expose the base methods. You will find that Infragistics (Sheridan) uses collection objects and that you will have to write some 4Test methods to deal with these. The Sheridan help file is a good resource for this task. Or if you may want to buy a 4Test class where someone has already done this for you.
