    AS/400

Has anyone done any testing on an AS/400 application that uses Seagull JWalk for the user interface? If so, is there anything special you had to do in order for Silktest to see the objects?

Out of the box, SilkTest only workds with AS400 screen via BlueExpress which is Rhumba terminal emulator that Segue resells. SilkTest sees the fields in this one.

With others you may have to resort to using the clipboard and parse for information if JRun allows it.

    Re: AS/400

At my previous employer they were able to create scripts against an AS/400 application that used JWalk as the user interface. This is not a terminal screen like you would see in NS/Elite or Client Access. JWalk creates a GUI interface with buttons, radio lists, etc.

The only information that anyone at the previous company could remember was that they had to use class mappings. However, I am not sure how to go about doing that.

    Any ideas?

So is SilkTest just not seeing the objects? Or is it just seeing them as CustomWins?

Class mapping requires that SilkTest sees the objects first. If it doesn't, then you need to move on to more creative techniques like relative coordinates and creating virtual objects for the script to interact with. You should first check with the vendor to see if they have an API to use first.

Silktest is not seeing any of the objects. The only thing I can see is the MainWin caption and nothing else.

    Re: AS/400

Two choices when SilkTest doesn't see anything...

1 - Hope that the vendor has an API to use
2 - Develop some 'elegant hacks' using low level functions and trying to keep coordinates isolated to the frame file.
