    getting system information using regedit commands

    hi,
    i want to get the system information using
    regedit commands or thru silk commands.
    can anyone help me

    Whola!

    It would be nice to know what kind of information you want to get from the system. However in SILK there are functions that return specific information like the following,
    SYS_GetRegistryValue (returns a specific key value)
    SYS_GetVersion (returns the version of the operating system)
    SYS_GetEnv (returns that value of the environment variable) etc,

    thanks for the response.i need the details
    like
    Machine Name,DiskSpace,CPU,Memory,Chipset,Os

    i was able to get the Os,Memory,MachineName
    details but not others.

    help me to get the other info.

    SYS_GetName function
    Returns the name of the operating system

    SYS_GetMemoryInfo function
    SYS_GetFreeMemory function
    GetMachineName function
    SYS_GetFreeDiskSpace function

    i was able to get the details i mentioned.
    but sys_GetMemoInfo works only for WinNT.thanks for the response.

    If you call into kernel32.dll, you may be able to get the disk space info you need from GetDiskFreeSpaceA/ExA/ExW/W. Also in kernel32.dll, I see GetSystemInfo, which will return the chip information you want. I'm not sure about your CPU requirement -- are you trying to get CPU usage information? That may be in the same dll -- don't know. You may be better off with a memory tracking tool, anyway.

    Calling into kernel32.dll will be easy or difficult, depending on what datatype conversion problems you run into. Search in this discussion for how to do it.

    agroves yes, it is cpu usage info i was looking for.The code given by WillHull is working fine.i was able to get the info i needed.thankz a lot
