    Internal error in agent - Read past end of buffer with Exists() method

    My Application is of VB, Active X and I use IE 6.0 as a browser(and I have Silk Test 5.5.3.0). I get Internal error at the Exists() method. Not always at the same line but at different Exists() methods.
    AN IE Crash appears at this line and silk just stays there without going even to the next testcase. If I cancel the IE Crash manually then the current testcase fails with internal agent error and goes to next one. I have some user defined methods to dismiss iecrash dialog but its not moving form that line even to recovery system.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

    Here's something to try. Add the optional seconds to wait when calling Exists (). Example: wWindow.Exists (5) will wait as much as 5 seconds for the window to exist.

    Hi John,
    I tried to put the time for exists method as you mentioned but it did not work. Still an IECrash comes at the exists() and sits at the same point for hours until we cancel the IECrash dilaog

    Does the SetActive() work? Try not using the Exists method- make your own- something like:

    do
    Window.SetActive()
    //it exists
    except
    //it doesnt exist

    if setactive fails, then it doesnt exist.

    Segue has solution for this known problem. It will be incorparated with Sp3 as hot fix soon. If this is a blocking issue for you you might want to contact them or wait for hot fix.

    Re: Internal error in agent - Read past end of buffer with Exists() method

    Hi KS,

    Thankyou for the information. I contacted the technical support of segue yesterday but they did not tell me that they are going to fix it. can you please let me how to find if they are going to give a hot fix for SP3? Here is the response I got from them.

    Hello
    I am the engineer who has been assigned the call you logged with us.
    Concerning the issue you ran into could you please add a sleep(5) for
    example before the Exists() method as this is usually due to a timing issue,
    see resolution below.

    SYMPTOM
    ----------------------------------

    Error: Internal error in agent - Read past end of buffer.

    WORKAROUND
    ----------------------------------
    This is a timing issue between SilkTest and the Agent. There is no specific
    cure as it happens with all combinations of Browser and SilkTest versions.

    Some points to look at are:-

    1) Agent>Options>Timing, ensure that there is some small delay in the
    keyboard and mouse.

    2) If using remote Agents ensure that all Agents are the same version.

    Let me know whether this issue is still standing after making this
    modifications.
    Thank you for your cooperation,

    Gaedig
    Silktest Engineer

    Please note if I do not hear from you within a couple of days I will close
    the case assuming that the issue is no longer standing. For any other
    issue/query, please contact Segue Technical Support Team at
    support@segue.com.
    Thank you for contacting Segue Technical Support Team.

    Re: Internal error in agent - Read past end of buffer with Exists() method

    There is another tech rep who has dealt with this issue, Robert McElhinney, why not present the case to him and see if he thinks it is the similar issue for which they have a solution. It is an internal change that has to be made to silk test...and on your side from then. But the solution given is for web applications
