    Starting application for recording

    I have an application that takes over the screen and does not allow access to other applications. It appears that SilkTest requires that you have the application running before you can record a test frame. Is there any way to start the application to be tested from within Silk and still have access to my application (i.e., always have SilkTest on top of my application) like Rational's SQA?

    Thanks in advance.

    3 ways:
    Way #1
    Declare the other application's main window. You can just record it as a DialogBox and switch it to MainWin, making sure you add the
    const sCmdLine = "commandline.exe"
    in the window declaration.
    This way you can start the app by saying (MainWindowIdentifier.Start ())

    Way #2
    MainWin("Caption of main window").Start("path and command line.exe")

    Way #3
    use 'bwcompat.inc'
    App_Start ("Command_line.exe")

    Hope that helps...

    Re: Starting application for recording

    Before I start I have to tell you I am just a starter:.. I was having similar problem like yours. May be my situation might give you some ideas. I am testing web application. So my default set to my web url and from there I go to different locations. So if my testscript fails I am stuck with the base state which is my 1st URL address. Now what I did in my testcases I am using appstate "xyz" which will start from my base and will take me to the right spot.

    So I have my DEfaultBase state and then I kinda direct where I wanted to by using Application states of my testcases and It works for me. If you have any question please feel free..

    Thanks
    Joy
