    Problems with htmltables: IE6 v NS4

I am working on Win2k and IE6 and NS4. I spent the better part of the day getting SilkTest to see my htmltables when I am using IE6. But when I try to record the window decl. with NS4 the tables don't show up. With NS4 all I get is the objects no tables around them. Anyone got any idea what might be going wrong here?

    Thanks

You could turn table recognition off for IE6, which would cause it to behave more like NS4.

You could also download aeweb3.inc from automationexpertise.com and use its functions such as Link (sTag), Image (sTag), and many more. These functions will locate an object whether it is in a table or directly on the page. No window declarations are required.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi John,

    > You could turn table recognition off for IE6, which would cause it to behave more like NS4.

Why should I have to do this? Is this a problem with how NS4 see this table?

Also if I do this won't this, will I still beable to use all of the table functions (GetRowText, GetFormatedText etc)? Without these it I can still do the testing I need but the amount of work I need to do will be alot more.

    Thanks,
    Joe

Yes, it seems to be how NS4 renders the table. SilkTest only has VO for NS4 which means its guessing at what's on the page. You could focus your functional testing on IE6 and just do minimal (manual) testing on NS4. I realize this may not be an option for you.

    Hope this helps
