    DoubleSelect() works, Select() doesn\'t

    Hi all,

    a colleague came across some strange phenomenon: He wants to select an item from a ListView, for example the second one:

    Window.ListView.Select(2).

    What happens is that SilkTest positions the mouse over the desired item but "doesn't click on it" - until we hit a key (Shift, "a", doesn't matter) - then the selection happens. Without the pressing of a key, SilkTest finishes with CONTROL_NOT_RESPONDING, which we have already disabled without getting a better result. And what confuses us: DoubleSelect(2) works perfectly.

    Any hints?

    Thanks, cb

    Re: DoubleSelect() works, Select() doesn\'t

    I had a similar problem with an owner drawn list box where the Select() method would not register immediately - but would happen when the next event occurred. A convenient solution at the time was simply to set the focus to another control on the form. The 'lostfocus/gotfocus' events seemed to be enough to 'purge/flush' the queue so that the Select was recognised.

    It worked for me - hope that helps.

    Click the object first. For instance:

    Combo.Click()
    Combo.Select(2)

    Should do the trick.

    Re: DoubleSelect() works, Select() doesn\'t

    Hello all,

    both solutions doesn´t help in my client server Application.
    After the Select command it seems to be SilkTest is waiting and hang until timeout. No follow commands in the testscript can execute.

    More hints?

    Thanks, cb

    What happens if you step through it in the debugger?

    It was worth a shot. Just out of curiousity, is your app a java app? I recall having a lot of issues with browsing a tree in our java app some time ago. I am going to look through the code and see what we did...

    Re: DoubleSelect() works, Select() doesn\'t

    I was more interested in what the C/S app was written in. Java acts differently sometimes. In our case, the key seemed to be detecting if the Item in question was already Expanded, and only doing the DoubleSelect if it was not expanded and we needed it to be.

    This was with a TreeView though, so it probably doesn't apply to you, since you mentioned a ListView.

    Re: DoubleSelect() works, Select() doesn\'t

    Did my suggestion at least select the item?

    If it selected it, but you had the control not responding, set the agent option off for E_CONTROL_NOT_RESPONDING
