Multi Browser testing with IE 5.0 and 5.5 question
I am trying to create an include file that will handle both IE 5.0 and 5.5 browsers. The difference between the two for my application is the inclusion of a HtmlForm object around my controls in 5.5. I am using DOM for both due to a Java Applet that silk only sees in DOM mode.
I have tried to Ignore the HtmlForm Class but silk does not seem to honor that request.
I have tried multitagging like this:
[-] multitag "[HtmlForm]login/[HtmlTextField]$UserID"
[ ] "[HtmlTextField]$UserID"
This works for 5.5 but not for 5.0.
I have also tried tagging like this
explorer5 tag "/[HtmlTextField]$UserID"
explorer5_DOM tag "/[HtmlForm]login/[HtmlTextField]$UserID"
This again only works for 5.5.
Any other ideas or work arounds that you guys have tried? I think I have exausted all the tricks up my sleave for browser testing.
Re: Multi Browser testing with IE 5.0 and 5.5 question
If I had played with it just a couple more hours before I posted the question....
The issue was that ShowHtmlForm= was set to true in the domex.ini file on the machine that has 5.5 on it. So it was giving me HtmlForm classes.
The machine that is using 5.0 has it set to false. Since I really don't need to see the HTML form I turned it off on the 5.5 machine as well. Then the problem was fixed.
I figured this out by reading the note at the bottom of the help file on the HtmlForm Class.
Thanks for reading this.
Maybe I will have saved somebody else a couple hours of messing around with HTMLForms.
