    Mohan,

I'm guessing that people are a little unclear what the specifics of your recording problem are. If you can provide a little more detail, I'll bet that you'll find the answers you are looking for.

    Re: Problem in recording

    Dear Gray,

I have a JTree and the tree is populated using a xml file (some 10 tree nodes). During recording I selected some tree nodes but in the script It is getting recorded as Device, level 1 etc based on the node name of the xml format not with the node name of the tree. But while playing back it is searching for the treenode with name Device, level 1. Because of this it is getting failed everytime.

I just want know whether anything special we have to do when working with Swing Components like JTree etc.

I believe I am clear now. Please let me know if any details are needed

    Mohan

    Re: Problem in recording

    Just a few quick questions...

    - Do you have window declarations that include this JTree?

    - Since it is produced with XML, are the contents of the tree dynamic?

    - Can you do a GetContents() and if so, what does it display?

    - Was this developed with Symantec Foundation Classes? I'm not certain about Silk 5.5, but I know 5.0.3.2 did not support Symantec Foundation Classes. Ask your developers about this, or look at the classpath and see if sfc.jar is part of that.

I don't have a window declaration with this JTree

The contents of the JTree are dynamic

    - Can you do a GetContents() and if so, what does it display?

    No, I can't do a GetContents.

No, this is developed using Java Foundation Classes JFC.

Thanks for all your help. I believe I can get out of this problem with your guidance. Waiting for your reply.

    Thanks & regards,
    Mohan

    Re: Problem in recording

If your tree contents are produced via XML, is it a custom java class behind the tree that is doing this? If so, you need to use "record class" to get the exposed methods in that Java class. Once you have this, assuming your developers have exposed the methods you need you should be able to call the methods that will tell silk what is in that JTree; something like GetTreeStruct() or GetNodes()... something along those lines.

What exactly do you see when you have Silk call GetContents() on that tree? What exactly does Silk see when you do a Record Class on that tree?

We have a XML file and a custom java class which will construct the tree from the XML file

When I do a record class and GetContents the output I get is a empty. I need to know whether I have to map my custom class with the standard class provided in Silk.

Please help me. Thanks for your reply.

    Re: Problem in recording

Somehow, I don't think we're connecting on this.

Open your application and get the tree/nodes exposed.

In Silk, go to the record menu and select the item, "Class..." Hover the mouse pointer over your JTree and let Silk "see" the class behind it. Save that the exact same way you save Window Declarations. It will place a new class in your include file. Once you have this, open it and you will see all the methods your developers have exposed. You can create an object based on this class and call those exposed methods through the object you created.
