    how do you work with web-like page embedded inan application

    i am testing an app that has a page that is web-like page that is embedded on a C++ app. the problem i am having is that that the weblike page is not seen by silktest as a normal webpage. somehow, it doesn't see the controls in this page. everything is seen as a custom object what's the workaround this? i am not familiar with extensions and don't know which/when to enable them? thanks.

    window ChildWin WebPage
    {
    tag "Page1";
    parent TopWindow
    CustomWin AfxFrameOrView42u0
    {
    msw tag "[AfxFrameOrView43u]$100";
    DialogBox DialogBox1
    {
    tag "$0";
    CustomWin ATL01A6A3D80
    {
    msw tag "[ATL:01A6A3D80]$15484";
    CustomWin ShellEmbedding1
    {
    msw tag "[Shell Embedding]$0";
    CustomWin ShellDocObjectView1
    {
    msw tag "[Shell DocObject View]$0";
    CustomWin InternetExplorer_Server1
    {
    msw tag "[Internet Explorer_Server]$0";

    }
    }
    }
    }
    }
    }
    }

    first question, how your settings looks like. CLASSPATH and browser extensions. if yes select to look at all objects including forms select the browser name under Options/extension and select Java Extensions. Whats Silk version u r using.

    i currently don't have any browser extensions enabled. i did try enabling one of the extensions like IE 6 and enabling Java or ActiveX but that didn't help. I am using ST 5.5 SP2.

    i browsed through the forum and read about http://www.qaforums.com/Forum1/HTML/000083.html and http://www.qaforums.com/Forum1/HTML/000100.html One of these threads had references on enabling the App as extension. how do i do that? Also, is using DLL an option for me but i don't know how to work with those? is there any documentation on using DLLs with Silktest. Thanks.

    you can enable external applications by selecting their dll or exe. Here you need to enable browser extensions and copy silktest2.jar file into jdk bin directory. it should solve the issue

    You shouldn't have to worry with the classpath in this case as it is not a Java application. What you could try is adding the exe for your application to the extension enabler and then select IE4 OCX as the extension type. This is the closest Segue has havd for this type of scenario but it is a pretty old version so may not work.

    Good luck.

    If you haven't done it yet make sure that the extention is enabled in your SilkTest and in the Extention enabler in your SilkTest's program folder. They should match up in the extention.
