    comparing strings?

i have two strings that are identical in terms of when I do a print, they are displayed exactly the sameas far as my eyes can tell . but when i do a matchstr or a conditional statement (if string1 == string2), it returns false each time. the only difference is that one of the strings is a value returned from a function i created while the other string is a passed parameter. is there any other way that silktest is trying to do a compare? can someone explain why this is happening? thanks!

    Re: comparing strings?

Usually there is some difference in your strings. Try printing the ascii values and seeing if they are the same.

Sometimes MatchStr() can be picky and you can work around it with wildcards, from their online example:
    MatchStr ("*HELLO*", "hi hello there")

Or, you can trim the white spaces before compare.
