    HTML Post Interception

How can I use Silk to intercept an HTML POST ? We're sending user input via a POST to another vendor, and I need to grab that data and validate that the correct data is being sent. Can Silk intercept that POST ?

SilkTest only works with the front end, not at the HTTP layer so you cannot trap any traffic. You could look at using SilkPerformer if you have it or alternatively you could create a simple harness using the IE OCX to receive the traffic and render it for SilkTest to see.

One way of doing it is to get developement to write the information out to a log and do the POST. Not the best, but could work.

Another idea is to use a java servlet to capture the information and save it to a file that you can then read.

    Re: HTML Post Interception

Could submission with POST, be trapped, by capturing the sent string from either Address or status bar?

If POST sends the whole submission as a part of the URL request, then it must show somewhere on the browser(or can we make it show?)

I had this situation present a few times in the past but couldn't R & D due to other priorities...

Can you verify the content on the client side?

No. My understanding is that you can intercept a GET on the client end, but cannot capture a POST via the URL or status bar. I'm light-years from being expert on this so I'm certainly open to being corrected on that. Well, in fact, that's why to question is here in the first place.

SilkTest does include the SilkPerformer recorder in it. You may be able to extract the POST information by using the log file that is generated by the recorder... Just a thought. Or use a full copy of SilkPerformer if you own it.
