Re: GetEverything( ) broken in SP2+

Yep, it's broken all right, and it used to work. The error occurs in winclass.inc, as soon as the code tries to QueryContents on the MainWin. I'll let you post the bug report.

    GetEverything( ) broken in SP2+

I can't use GetEverything(). If I use it for any thing I get the following results saying "Agent returned an invalid response". Has anyone else seen this issue.
    Code:

    Notepad.SetActive()
list of string lsContents = Notepad.GetEverything()

    *********Results*********
    Notepad.SetActive ()
    Notepad.GetWinInfoList ()
*** Error: Agent returned an invalid response
    Occurred in Notepad.GetEverything
    Called from TryToGetEverything at getevery.t(184)

Re: GetEverything( ) broken in SP2+

Yeah, well, Select used to select the right thing from HtmlPopupList objects, too. But that's broken in SP2a.

Might want to hold off and wait for 2b...or not 2b...that is the question. Whether 'tis nobler to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous defects.....

Re: GetEverything( ) broken in SP2+

    More update..
I spoke to a SilkTest engineer today and asked him what is the deal with sp1, sp2 and sp2a. He said that there was a problem with HtmlPopUpList in SP1 which they had fixed in SP2 and that led to new issues with PopUpList so they had to fix and rebuild SP2 to SP2a.
Regarding the second issue with DOM. In SP2 they have enhanced DOM, that it why it see object differently than SP1. They definitely recommend SP2a over all the pervious build, Hope this will help.

Re: GetEverything( ) broken in SP2+

    Couple of thoughts here...

    1. I'm disturbed by the phrase "enhanced DOM." SPs and new functionality ... well, in my mind they really don't belong together. I prefer to see SPs as fixes.

    2. Would it not seem that Segue would have an awe inspiring suite of regression tests that should catch these glaring failures?

Re: GetEverything( ) broken in SP2+

I am disturbed by the new facts of SP2b. It seems that they are fixing Frankenstein, and the end result is always a Frankenstein.(even Homer Simpson would've figure that out

When are we going to see version 5.7; lol since we are not going to reach 6 anytime soon, with this pace of fixing easy bugs.

Check this article and you'll better understand how silk works: http://msdn.microsoft.com/msdnmag/is...ss/aaccess.asp

Also check these tools(just small exe files):
to record and identify object. All the limiteations with MS Active accebility sdk
    are the limitations of SilkTest.
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/downloads/default.asp?URL= /downloads/sample.asp?url=/msdn-files/027/001/785/msdncompositedoc.xml

Holy cow why are these tools like silk's record
Now you know how to do it yourself, good luck.

Re: GetEverything( ) broken in SP2+

As far as anyone recommending SP2(a) over SP1 goes, they aren't using it much in the real world.

I'm not saying that SP1 is perfect, but at least I have workarounds for what doesn't work

Woah. Wait a minute... there's now an SP2b?

    Where did that come from?

I think he's referring to what will be a replacement for what is currently avaialble as SP2(a). This isn't avaialble yet.
