    Hi everybody,

    The problem is there is a treeview in the AUT which has the followin
    items,
    Query
    Lot = Current
    ...
    Lot = *
    if i have to select the Lot = * item, in the select statement if i
    specify it as Select("Query/Lot = *") silk selects assumes * to be a
    wildcard character and selects the first item.
    There is one option.. ican use the index, but there are cases in
    which i dont know the index so i will not be able to use it at all
    times. Can anybody help me..

    Re: hi...a treeview problem

    How about something like:

    BOOLEAN bSelected = False;
    int iIndex = TreeView.FindItem(sItem);
    STRING sItem = "/Query/Lot = *";
    while !bSelected
    {
    TreeView.Select(iIndex);
    iIndex = TreeView.FindItem(sItem);
    if (TreeView.GetSelText() != sItem)
    {
    iIndex++;
    TreeView.Select(iIndex);
    }
    else
    bSelected = True;
    }

    User Jaimini Bhatt (jaiminita@yahoo.com.nospam) posted:

    There are two ways you can do so: both the methods refer to mapping virtual objects. Here the method you would employ would depend upon whether your tool bar is equally divided into n number of buttons or is it inequally distributed.

    If your buttons etc. are in- equally distributed inside the Toolbar,then do the following:
    1. Copy the main declaration of toolbar as many number of times as you have objects which you want to map them to.
    2. Change each one's name (identifier and not the caption tag) to whatever you would have that object known by:. e.g. btnOpenFile, btnFileSave, btnExit... etc.
    3. Use window location and then record their location and add the location declaration to the tag.
    4. Now you are ready to use extended methods of anywin on the objects. like click() method.
    e.g.
    customwin New
    * tag "Afxwnd/#2/(5,7)"
    customwin Open
    * tag "Afxwnd/#2/(7,9)"

    If your buttons are equally distributed, you can keep the declaration like below where we identify the rows and column
    customwin New
    * tag "Afxwnd/#2/(1:4,1:1)" //column no.1 out of total no.of columns 4
    customwin Open
    * tag "Afxwnd/#2/(2:4,1:1)"

    ... All the best.

    By the way, I am looking for a job where there is a need for a competent QA with Silk strengths, if anyone can help, I would be grateful.

    Double quote the asterisk to force it to be literal.

    Re: hi...a treeview problem

    Rajesh,

    I don't have access to a Silk machine at the moment, but try this instead and let us all know if it works.

    treeview.Select("Query/Lot=""*")

    Think of it as forcing the * to be a literal string character and concatenating it.

    Sorry I don't have a machine here to verify it on.

    Re: hi...a treeview problem

    Thanks Gray for the Response but it does'nt work that way i get the following error:
    *** Error: Item 'Query/Lot = "*' was not found
    i tried giving it in the following way also
    treeview.Select("Query/Lot = ""*""")
    but i get and error
    *** Error: Item 'Query/Lot = "*"' was not found

    I know this much that i should force * to be taken as a literal but i'm not able to find what will make it understand that * is literal.
    Thank u once again for u'r suggestion,
    regards,
    rajesh

    Re: hi...a treeview problem

    My friend ... I'm stuck.

    Clearly you know what needs to happen, and for the life of me, I cannot believe that Silk cannot see that as a string literal.

    I still don't have access to the product, but believe I can get in front of a SilkMachine at some point today. I'll look at this then ... as much for my own curiosity as solving your problem. ;-)
