Re: Can silk be forced to generate .res/.rex from .pln or .s?

You would have to define your own ScriptExit() function and place the ResExportOnClose() function in there.

Never mind, that would do the same thing. You can define your own TestCaseExit() function but i believe that would do that for each testcase which would be fine if you have only one testcase per .t file.

Can silk be forced to generate .res/.rex from .pln or .s?

I am running silk from the command line, running a single .pln/.s that calls several .t files. I am only getting a single .res/.rex file from the plan when the tests are done, but I would also like individual .res/.rex files for each .t called.

Can this be done (from command line)?

Re: Can silk be forced to generate .res/.rex from .pln or .s?

Thanks for the suggestion TonyM. I tried overriding the default testcase and script exit functions, using ResExportOnClose in there, same thing. Results files are still only getting exported for the testplan/suite, not for the individual scripts.

Check your "Runtime Options". If you specify a file under "Results", "Directory/File", you will get only one results file for all of the ".t"s that run.

If you leave the field blank -- SilkTest will create a separate results file for each ".t" run. The each file will be named that same as the ".t", but with a ".res" extension.

Calling ResExportOnClose() at the end of the script will create a .rex file from that.

Create a text file and write the data (FileWriteLine) from each testcase specifying a unique file name for each. This way you can create or add to the files with each run.

If you want all of the data that a results file produces, you might have to do a little more upfront work, but once you do it for one project it should be exportable to other projects.
