    using ftp with silktest

    hi,
    I can get this far trying to record an
    ftp command. I need to use ftp inside
    my testcases, but I can't get silk to
    see the username and password.

    DOSPrompt.Start("C:\Winnt\system32\cmd.exe")
    DOSPrompt.SetActive()
    DOSPrompt.TypeKeys("c:<Enter>")
    DOSPrompt.TypeKeys("cd c:\addexample\server <Enter>")
    DOSPrompt.TypeKeys("FTP flip3.zko.dec.com<Enter>")
    sleep (2)
    // it fails right here it doesn't enter anything once inside ftp????
    DOSPrompt.TypeKeys("ferrari<Enter>")
    sleep (2)
    DOSPrompt.TypeKeys("password<Enter>")
    DOSPrompt.TypeKeys("ascii<Enter>")
    DOSPrompt.TypeKeys("mput *.*<Enter>")

    thanks in advance....
    rhonda...

    The window caption will change after you type "ftp". That is probably enough to cause some window identity problems for SilkTest.

    Try changing the tag for DOSPrompt to "#1"
    or try using:

    MainWin("#1").Start(ect...)

    Re: using ftp with silktest

    Unless DOS FTP is the app under test, why not simplify life and use WSFTP or some other GUI based FTP program? Heck, you could even use Netscape or IE if all you are trying to do is download something...

    Re: using ftp with silktest

    It seems kind of late, but if anyone needs it later on, ther is a simple way of doing it using SYS_Execute ("ftp -s:file_name")

    and then just create a file called "file_name" and put all needed FTP commands there as shown in example below:

    open 216.00.28.152
    userid
    password
    cd /export/home/fcdata
    ascii
    get flights.db c:\flights.db
    bye

    Hope it helps.

    I agree: that's by far the easiest way of dealing with FTP, particularly since you can use SilkTest to build the file with ListWrite. Saves a lot of problems with timing issues, too.

    If you want to do FTP from SilkTest, search the forums (or download area) for ftpClass. This uses the wininet.dll to handle the ftp functions.
