Error from DB_FetchNext - IOT tables

We have several database functions that work perfectly fine. I am getting the following error with some database functions:

    [ ] *** Error: (HY000) [Oracle][ODBC][Ora]ORA-01756: quoted string not properly terminated
    [ ] Occurred in DB_FetchNext

The function has a very simple sql statement that works when executed in sqlplus.

The only difference I have noticed so far is that I get this error when running queries against a Index-Organized tables (IOT).

Is there any known limitation with Silk and IOT tables? Does Silk queries go by Rowid's in which case a query against a IOT table would fail.

Is there a workaround, if the issue is because of IOT tables?

In this area, your ODBC driver is more likely to be the source of your problem than SilkTest itself.

None of the ODBC drivers are as good as SQLPlus -- and all of them are a bit different in their capabilities.

Try changing from the "Oracle ODBC driver" to the "Microsoft ODBC Driver for Oracle" and see if it makes any difference.

Also, check for an updated version of your "Oracle ODBC driver" -- mine is
    currently 8.01.06.00.

There is one obvious workaround to all of these ODBC problems -- that is to use SilkTest to enter queries and read results from the SQLPlus window itself. (SQLPlus does not use an ODBC driver and is not subject to the same limitations)

Re: Error from DB_FetchNext - IOT tables

    Thanks Rob.
I am using Oracle ODBC version 8.01.06.00 too.

For now I have decided to do my queries directly in SQLPLUS instead of using ODBC

Re: Error from DB_FetchNext - IOT tables

    Encountered this same error yesterday.
    Solution/work-around I found today:
--- Run your SELECT statement from the corresponding Oracle View instead of the Table.

    Example:
Instead of "Select ORDER_NO, ORDER_QTY from ORDERS",
    do "Select ORDER_NO, ORDER_QTY from ORDERS_V"

NOTE: doing the Select against the table works fine when executed from sqlplus or other db tools. Hopefully, someone has already reported this bug to Segue.

I did report the bug to Segue - but never heard back from them. Have not followed up since I got it to work with Microsoft ODBC instead of Oracle ODBC too.
