    Dynamic Popup Window

I am working on a web applicaiton. My application has search capability.

    Steps are like this:

Start the app-Click onSearch- give searchtext - then a main window appers with the summary details of the search results - then if I click on the summary link a Popup window appers with the details - The popup window has the title of the result( each test result has diffrent titles). There is a close button on the popup window.

Can anybody tell me how can I automate this kind of functionality with Silk.

    Thanks in advance

    Raj

    Re: Dynamic Popup Window

I think you need to ask a more specific question to get a meaningful answer. It sounds like Silk should easily accomplish this task. If you are not familiar with Silk you will need to take some time and learn the basics. Go through the manuals and practice the basic commands. Once you get a handle on how it works overall try to automate your test and ask any specific questions you may have.

I apologize if I underestimate your knowledge of the tool, but from the post it sounds like haven't used it at all.

    Re: Dynamic Popup Window

There are two methods U can adopt for creating and running the scripts
    1.Record and playback method...(this won't suit you)
    2.4Test Scripting
First record all the windows u encounter in your whole testing process ...
Your recorded scripts wud contain the objects in those windows..
Now write the methods for those windows...
For Eg.In your first window..to click on the search button..
Then collect all those windows in a single .inc file..
start writing a testscript for the testing..

    Re: Dynamic Popup Window

    Hi Raj,
When you start Silk Test for AUT, first record window declarations for all pages and structure for application in inc file. If you want record and play then go slow by moving mouse.Make sure you see the object in script. In script check the location.
    Thank you
