    How to handle a dynamic page when do silktest

    Here is my question:

    For Example:
    order summary page: every time when you go to this page, it might be different because there probably has more item add into this page, if you want to check certain Order item, you need to go into the order detail page by click the URL link. So you recorded this window, and notice the HtmlLink index is "#10". But the next day you came back, there are more items there already, so the previous index changed, if you still want to go to the previous order detail, how can you search the item you want?
    Thanks.

    Suppose the caption of the link for that item is the itemno, then u can Use
    HtmlLink(ItemNo).Click()
    Try this..

    Re: How to handle a dynamic page when do silktest

    Thank you Rasu123 for your reply. Since it's a dynamic page, the ItemNo keeps change, let's say the itemno was #3 the first time I go to this page, but late on when I come back to the page again, there are some new items join in, so the previous one might change to #8, if I still click HtmlLink ("#3").click (), it won't take to where I want to go. Any ideas?
    Thanks.

    Re: How to handle a dynamic page when do silktest

    Hello, sree,
    Thank you for reply to me. You are right, the window ID does't change even the index changes. But when I tried yestoday, I found there is another problem, for example, I have a link called Results which will bring you to this results page if you click it. first time when I did window declaration, it's just a link under a browserchild, but next time I redo window declaration for the same page, this link changed to be inside a table, so when you call function "click", the path is totally different. any ideas?
    BTW: I'm new here, if I want to reply to certain person, how can I get their email and send message to them?
    Thanks sree for your help.

    There is no really go way of getting dynamic content. What I do is write a generic function to get the property of the object, then pass the object to my specific function.
    You can email me and I can show you exactly how to do it. ha_toan@yahoo.com
