Having trouble recording from the Dos Prompt

    Hi,
Using SilkTest V5.0, I need to create some
testcases that will be running commads from
the MSDOS prompt. Silk doesn't see that
screen. anyone have any other ideas on
how to get this to work?
    I've used SYS_Execute, but I can't see
the dos window when I use that.
    thanks,
    rhonda...

If you MUST use a DOS box, download the QAPLib #1 in the downloads section.

There are a few DOS Box functions to grab text etc...

Otherwise, there is a modified SYS_Execute download also you can use.

If all you need to do is lanuch an application, you can use the AppStart (cmdline) function, but you have to include (use 'bwcompat.inc') to do so.
Or you can use the following command:
    MainWin("#1").Start (cmdline)

I know that's too much info to digest, but it really helps to investigate these alternatives.

SYS_Execute was never designed to be a Windows command. It was there for UNIX platforms only. They never supported it for Windows to begin with.

I meantioned the 3 most common ways on how to execute applications in my previous reply.

    Hi Rhonda!

Try using the Sys_Execute command with an lsoutput to capture the output of the command that may help

    list of string lsOutput
    sys_execute("dos command", lsOutput)
    ListPrint(lsOutput)

    Good Luck...

Rhonda, you probably need need to declare the dos box and put the declaration in one of your includes. Note there are dos boxes differences under different OS', so you'll need to account for those, too, if you're testing multi platforms. I tried using sys_execute under win 98 and kept getting hangs in Silk 5.01. Segue support acknowledged the bug and said the fix "was slated for the next major release." Cheers.
