checking an item in a TreeView

Some TreeViews have checkboxes just to the left of the tree view items. Silk Doesn't seem to be able to check and uncheck these. Any help?

if you manually select the item and then press the spacebar, does it check the checkbox?

unfortunately not. I'm under the impression that this feature of treeviews is not exposed in the way that other properties are. Why, I don't know.

Re: checking an item in a TreeView

I had a similar issue on a previous project but the checkboxes were in a list, not a treeview. The only way I could get around it was to create a new method which got the index of the item in the list and then clicked the checkbox using myWin.CheckBox("#{iIndex}").Check().

This way I was able to base the selection on the text in the list.

    Hope this helps,

    Paul

    Hi Brian,

Ask your developers if the checkbox is really a checkbox. I'm sure that you're now asking yourself, what the heck is he talking about?

I worked on a project where there appeared to be checkboxes associated with each node on a tree. However, they were really just node icons that appeared to be checkboxes. Smoke and mirrors. When the tree icon was clicked, the tree node image was toggled between check.gif and uncheck.gif. I think that this is actually a pretty common practice and probably depends on whether or not the programming language supports associating checkboxes with tree nodes.

Any time I've had to work with checkboxes in tree nodes, I've had to select the tree node I want to change, then use TypeKeys to toggle the checkbox value.

    Hi Brian,

I tried jwashbux's solution and it worked.
