Silk Test 5.0.3 Vs Java Applet

    HI

we have Java applet popps out of IE frame and is developed in JDK 1.3.0.1. Silk Test is not recognizing the objects within that even classpath is set to silkTest_Java2.jar. Its recognized only as JavaMainWindow but not the controls in it. Any setting will do the trick? I have installed jdk 1.3 too.

Hmmmmmmmmm, now when you say it pops out of the IE frame, ... it is still an applet, and technically a "browser" driven object. I'm betting you need the Java1.jar rather than the Java2.jar.

Re: Silk Test 5.0.3 Vs Java Applet

Java applets can be a bit tricky to configure. If you are using 5.03_2 then you must use IE VO settings in Options ... Extensions. This needs to be set on both PC's (if you are running remotely). On the host PC (where you are running silk) you also need to need to highlight Internet Explorer 5.x and then select the Extension button to its right. Then check the checkbox next to Enable use of Java Plugin.

If you are using 5.5, then you can use VO or DOM. I suggest DOM. Follow the same procedure, look for the checkbox to enabel the use of Java Plugin. Also be sure to have the Classpath variable set to Java2.jar.

You can get around the java2.jar classpath setting if you have a bin folder for either your application or in the bin folder for the version of java you are running. Classpath is easier though.

Re: Silk Test 5.0.3 Vs Java Applet

If you are testing the applet with a browser that is using a plug-in for example a java plug-in for 1.3 could you ensure the following :-
    - Ensure you have the classpath as SilkTest_Java2.Jar in the classpath. (to ensure this is loaded correctly open a command prompt and type "set". This when executed will return with the current environment variables for your system, if you could manually read the classpath that you are correctly pointing to our jar file "SilkTest_Java2.Jar"
    - In SilkTest when you select Options / Extensions ensure that "Enable use of java plug-in" is checked.
    - In the directory Program files/Javasoft/jre/1.3/lib/ext copy our jar file "SilkTest_Java2.Jar" into this directory.

You should be able to get it working if you have the above setup.

    Thanks,
    AU
