Re: Unable to edit the TestPlan

Try releasing the lock for that part of the plan. To release lock go to
Include->Release Lock in the plan editor

    Unable to edit the TestPlan

    Hello Silk Users,
I am unable to edit/Replace the TestPlan.
    The Eroor message displayed is
    "Cannot Replace because the Testplan
    is Read only".
The .pln file is not Read only file.
    I can Copy/Paste & recreate a new Tesplan,
WHich seems to be working, but the problem
    seems in multiple .pln files.
Thanks in advance for all the reply.
    ~Girija

Re: Unable to edit the TestPlan

I have had the same problem in the past. I take it that at some point, the file was read-only (maybe from a CM tool?)

If you edit the file outside of SilkTest, it works.

From what I have seen of this problem, it typically occurs on Test Plans that have sub-test plans and is random in nature.

I have not found any workaround, other than to edit the Test Plan in a text editor or to create a new test plan file and delete the one that is bad.

My guess is that the CM tool at some point put in some hidden character (an extra EOF marker or something) and Silk doesn't like it, so see's it as read-only.

Re: Unable to edit the TestPlan

in order to edit a plan file, i think that you have to first "aquire" a lock.
