    Unsupported char recognition ???

I'm trying to get silktest to type the following string
    !$%^&*(){}[]@#~?><,.
which is all the 'strange' chars I can find on the keyboard.
When it gets to the section of the script where these shd be typed SilkTest simply exists the script and no error is mentioned anywhere. I'm using 5.0.3.
Has anyone come across this behavour before ???

I haven't tried typing these characters in as you described, so I'm just throwing out ideas. Does the field you are trying to type in accept these characters? I have seen Silk abort without errors when it encountered something 'strange'.

You could try using the chr() function instead of the actual character. You may get a different behaviour anyway.

When you say "typed," do you mean that you're using TypeKeys to put these characters into a TextField object or are you using SetText?

I don't know whether the ( and ) characters can be typed, but I do know that the > (greater than) and < (less than) characters cannot be entered using TypeKeys(). You will need to substitute < Greater> and < Less> in your string, as shown below:

    !$%^&*(){}[]@#~?< Greater>< Less>,.

    Re: Unsupported char recognition ???

Thank you all for you replies.
I was using the SetText method.

I removed the () as per Atlee's reply and also put <Greater> and <Less> in and it now works fine.

    Thanks again
