    Can not type \":\" in a text filed in Win ME

    While working on Windows ME if you try and do a settext in a textfiled for example

    Open.FileName.SetText("c:\text.txt") silk is not able to type ":" instead it types ";" has anybody encountered this problem?

    TypeKeys doesn't work either.
    even if I try "c{chr(58)}text.txt" that doesn't work either.
    string x="c:\text.txt"
    Open.FileName.SetText(x)doesn't work either.

    Re: Can not type \":\" in a text filed in Win ME

    The next obvious question is:
    Can you enter the colon manually ?

    The application might have enabled a keyboard template for a foriegn keyboard or something. Maybe something with caps lock (although you would expect the reverse)

    If this happens ONLY with Windows ME (not NT) -- then it is just another bug report in a tall pile for Bill Gates -- i.e. search the Microsoft bug database :-)

    We had this problem with WinME also. It seems to be a timing issue. We had to get rid of SetText() and use TypeKeys() with a delay of 0. Still this does not work consistantly.

    Re: Can not type \":\" in a text filed in Win ME

    I had the same problem with ME. Try this:

    Open.FileName.SetText(" ")
    Open.FileName.ClearText()
    Open.FileName.SetText("C:\file.txt")

    For some strange reason the second SetText() always typed a colon.
