Agent can\'t see Java applet objects under IE4

My company uses a Silk Test 5.0 script running on NT4 to monitor the availability and functionality of our customers' websites. A page on one of these sites contains a Java applet (developed by the customer), which contains a number of object controls. Our script invokes Netscape 3 to view the page, and then interacts with the controls, checking for the correct responses.

Now we wish to upgrade the routine to work with Internet Explorer 4 (SP1, JVM #3188). The applet runs correctly in the IE4 window, but we cannot get the SilkTest Agent to 'see' the controls contained within it; so, our script hangs or crashes when a reference is made to one of them.

Grabbing the window definition gives this result:

None of the controls within the applet are present; however the same definition grabbed using Netscape 3 on the same machine reveals a tree of about forty objects.

Extensions and Extension Enabler are both set up with NN3 and IE4 enabled, with Java extensions and no others selected for each. We have tried restarting the machine before testing, with no success.

    Please can anybody help?

    Thanks in advance,
    Matthew Grimwade

Have you set your CLASSPATH to point to the SilkTest_Java1.jar file?

Re: Agent can\'t see Java applet objects under IE4

First of all, the Netscape tag will be different. Here are my tags for a Java applet
    [ ] explorer tag "[BrowserChild]#1/[JavaApplet]#1/[MSAWT_Comp_Class]#1"
    [ ] netscape tag "[JavaApplet]#1/[NetscapeAwtFrame]#1/[NetscapeAwtCanvas]#1"

We can sometimes see the controls inside the netscape applet, but not all types of controls. So far we have been unable to 'crack' into the IE applet.

Please let me know if you come up with a solution.
