Re: hint text

I assume that you're referring to a standard A (anchor) link that has a TITLE tag associated with it. Something like this:

The GetHelpText () method won't help you here. However, calling the sFullCaption property will. In the above example, if the declaration for that were MyPage.GoHere you could do the following to verify:

Note: This property isn't the same as GetFullCaption or GetCaption. I dunno if that's by design or a screw-up, but I think it'll help you.

hint text

User (jeffreygreen@avaya.com.nospam) posted:

I currently am testing a web page which displays hint text when I move
the mouse over the link. I have tried getting the text but all I
get is the that displays for the link but I am not sure how you would
go about getting the hint text.

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks
Jeff

I tried that but didn't seem to work it returns a blank string. It seems
the help text only displays
when you move the mouse over the link. Is there a way to move the mouse
over the link without having
to get the physical location of the links

Jeff,
Does the HTML look like I wrote about in the above message? That is, does the anchor tag have the title item specified for it?

If it does, perhaps you need to move the mouse over the object first. I just recalled that that's what I did first, trying GetHelpText first. So you might want to try something like this:
That works for me with SilkTest 5.5 where the anchor <a has the title element displayed. I think you're using 5.032 at Avaya, so it may not work for you. Dunno. I know that some people at the client I'm at are still using 5.032, so I'll check around and see what I get here.

Re: hint text

The sCaption property does not return the help text, this is using Silk 5.0.1
It returns the regular caption of the window.
