    problem using GetMultiText

I am attempting to read a multi-line text field (defined as TextField) using MultiText() and the list returned has missing characters as well as missing lines.

Is there a known problem with this function?

Oops, I meant to say that I'm using GetMiltiText() to read the text field.

Did you ever get a solution elsewhere on this?

We're using 5.5 HF 4 (don't want to "risk" an upgrade right now) and have noticed the same problem. The lines that are "missing" are all blank lines, but it really messes up a list comparison.

Check the length of your returned string. Silk has a limitation in different text variables.

I bet your text is truncated at the limit, and your return strings are of the same size.

    Re: problem using GetMultiText

I tried the following approach to get the empty lines in the textfield.

-Select the Entire Text in the TextField ( using pressKeys and ReleaseKeys methods for "ctrl", "shift", "end" )

    -Copy the text using SendMessage (TextField.hwnd, WM_COPY, 0,0 )
(I tried using TypeKeys method for Ctrl-c) but this didn't copy. so used SendMessage).

-Take this into a list variable (list of string lsActual = Clipboard.GetText)

Now in lsActual I got the entire Text including empty lines.

Hope this solves the problem of empty lines in the textfield.

    Re: problem using GetMultiText

I suspect that Sam.V's solution will do the trick!

For clarification, our TextField was along the lines of:

    Line 1
    Line 2

    Line 4

    Line 6
    Line 7

The "missing" items in the list after doing GetMultiText() were the blank lines between Line 2/4 and Line 4/6. If it were truncating, I'd have expected missing all or part of Line 7.

It looks to me like GetMultiText() has a problem with at least some kind of "empty" space ...

Oh well, as I said, the solution proposed here should do the trick for our case.
