    Alternative for Start-> Run

    I am using the Start->Run Menu on Windows 2000 and NT to start my installation.

    I write the entire path of the Installation exe and then click Ok to start the Installation
    Same is the case for Uninstallation

    Is there a alternate and a better way to do the same.

    Any inputs would be very helpful

    Check this message, and download the attached dll. Use the ShellProcess( ) method to start apps. http://www.qaforums.com/Forum1/HTML/001698.html

    Re: Alternative for Start-> Run

    You can declare your install and uninstall windows as MainWin and use Invoke() or Start() method. I guess Start() method is preferable if the command to invoke it will be changing. not sure if there's much difference between the 2.

    Re: Alternative for Start-> Run

    Actually I seem to recall digging through the Segue code and seeing that Start actually calls the Invoke method. I could be remembering that incorrectly...

    Re: Alternative for Start-> Run

    A good method that works fine for me is as follows:

    //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// ////
    //// RunCommand() //// ////
    ////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

    hidecalls VOID RunCommand(STRING sCommand)

    {
    Desktop.TypeKeys("<Leftwin>-r",0.2);
    Run.SetActive();
    Run.Open.SetText(sCommand);
    Run.OK.Click();
    }
