How useful to upgrade to SilkTest 5.0.1?

    Hi all,
I am testing Java 1.2.2 application with SilkTest5.0. Facing Performance problems, recording inconsistancy problems in the silk test 5.0. Hope that SilkTest 5.0.1 can fix the problem/s. Is it advisable to upgrade to 5.0.1, in view of changes to be done in existing testcases, declarations etc? I have already done lot of testcases and I don't want to change them.
Does 5.0.1 really solve above problems.
    Thanks in advance.

I haven't noticed any improvement in performance with SilkTest 5.0.1. As for recording problems, I'm not sure I know exactly what you are talking about. But, then again, I don't use the recorder except for writing window/winclass declarations. And most of those problems I can usually get around by playing around with the ClassList in the javaex.ini file.

If I recall correctly from the Quest 99 conference, there will be performance improvements in version 5.1. Maybe someone else who was there can vouch for that also.

I've been running 5.01 for 3 weeks while other team members and the lab machines are still on 5.0. No problems, differences in declarations or performance increases have been noted.

SilkTest 5.0.1 does have the SetBaseState() bug that could affect how your appStates behave during TestCaseExit(). If you perform any specialized cleanup operations upon completion of a test case, this will no longer work under 5.0.1.
