How can generate txt result files directly?

    Usually, there is function in
'Result'->'Extract' to convert a .res file to
    .txt file.

Can anyone tell me how can I generate SilkTest result file as .txt file directly after running every single test script without manually convert it?

    Thanks a lot,
    Hongjunp

look up ResExport() in help. Also, look up "results files". There are many subtopics to read about.

You might also want to examine ResExportOnClose and, perhaps, build it into your recovery system. Something like...
That should export the results at the end of script execution.

Re: How can generate txt result files directly?

I've overridden (sp?) all output functions in SilkTest with _Print _Print2 _LogError etc. Then in these overloaded functions, I have a boolean that looks for WriteToText, and if WriteToText is true, all output from my scripts goes to a standard text file as well as to the results file.

I can never get code snippets to nest, but here is kind of what it looks like...

    hongjunp,

Check out the logClass that is posted in the forums here. It will output both to the res file and any number of text files (logs) that you wish. Also has log trace levels so you can determine the verbose level for each run.

Just do a search in the SilkTest forum for 'logClass'
