    Is the HtmlTextField limited input length fixed in 5.5???

    Is the HtmlTextField limited input length fixed in 5.5???

    It used to be around 256 characters, and you could input no more. Is it changed in silk 5.5?

    Re: Is the HtmlTextField limited input length fixed in 5.5???

    Omigawd! You're right!! What a spectacularly stupid defect for them to have created out of thin air.

    I just created a simple page with an HtmlTextField object on it with a maxlength setting of 300. I tried to use SetText to put 270 characters in it, but only 255 of the characters were actually put into the field. However, I know the field is larger as I can enter more characters into the field manually.
    I copied the text out, and it is only 255 characters. (Okay, I'm paranoid and worried the error was in GetText () or Len ().)

    The following should correct the problem that shouldn't exist in the first place....

    I hope someone has logged this with Segue.

    Oh? Anything we should know about? Or is it the bullet clicking into the chamber?

    Is this bug in 5.5? Because I am suing 5.0.3.1 and I can able to paste more than 255 characters in the HtmlTextField using "Clipboard Class”.

    Re: Is the HtmlTextField limited input length fixed in 5.5???

    Well. As long as you can get the information from an external source you are fine using Clipboard or TypeKeys. If you try to get a very long text from your silk's script then you are still limited to 1024 of chars, because the editor doesn't allow longer strings else it gives you an error.
    Unless you can declare a string using the line break, which I doubt it works.

    So the real limitations are the

    HtmlTextField().SetText() <=1024 char
    and
    editor's line length <=1024 char

    I need to use either a largeString class or external input file(which I don't like at all)

    I hope you see that having the latter problem cause alot of grief.

    Actually, soft returns and concatenation do work. Just created a 15000 character string using 15 lines of 1000 characters each, soft return (Shift-Enter) at the end with a concatenation at the end of each line. That is...

    I Hope this helps.
