    Extensions at run time

User K. Hari Prasad (khprasad@quark.stpm.soft.net.nospam) posted:

    Hi
I am having 3 testcases related to browser out of 500+ total testcases. So
I want to enable extensions only at the time of execution of these
    testcases.
I am running all testcases from plan file.
So could somebody please tell me how to set extensions at run time?

    Thanks,
    Hari

    Re: Extensions at run time

You need to set all of your extenstions that you plan on using. However, in the runtime seetings, you set which to use.

What you need to do is make to option sets - one for browsers and one for Win32 apps (or java, or whatever the other 497 testcases use).

Then, in your testplan, for the testcase details, simply do the folowing to change option sets:

    optionset: optSetfile

where 'optSetfile' is the option set file you wish to load.

    Hari,

    1. Create an option set for each configuration (1 for normal, 1 for web)

    2. Within your testplans, use the optionset: normal.opt command to
specify which optionset to use. The tests must be indented within the
    optionset statement.

    Hope this helps.

    Re: Extensions at run time

Has anyone had luck with running a testplan with 2 options sets?

My first executes ok, but the second I receive errors that it can't find the path to the .t file - because it's not looking for it in the right spot. I have the following:

    optionset: c:\international\silk options\internationallocal.opt

    optionset: c:\uk\silk options\uk_qa_50_local.opt

and each have the specific tests indented below the appropriate options set.

I'll keep playing with it, but was curious if it's working for others?

    Thanks,
    Dana

    Re: Extensions at run time

    Hi Dana,

I have this working in a plan that I use. I am using three different option sets in the plan and it is working perfectly so far. What have is the option sets in the same path but with three different names. Maybe try putting the option sets in the same path ? This might help you.

    Cheers,
    Conor

    Thanks Conor.

I'll give this a try... They are 2 seperate projects, but I'm trying to take advantage of time during the night to run them both. I'm guessing that this will fix the problem, I was just hoping I wouldn't have to go this route.

    Thanks!
