    Input Data File From Testplan

    I have:
    testscript = tscript.t
    testcases = tcase1, tcase2
    testplan = tplan.pln
    data file = dfile

    I am calling tcase1 from tplan.pln using dfile.

    If dfile has 4 lines of data, will tcase1 be called 4 times (one for each row)? Or will it only be called once for the first row of data?

    If it only calls it once, how do I create a loop effect in a testplan? Do I need to just create a main function in tscript that will loop through each row?

    TIA

    Couple of options here:

    1 - Call the testcase from the testplan 4 times and pass each set of data from the testplan using the testdata keyword.

    2 - Refer to a function name in the testplan which will read each row from the file and call the testcase 4 times with each set of data.

    Re: Input Data File From Testplan

    Hi Jamesso:
    I tried but no luck. I tried multiple testdata but only the last testdata was passed to the script. The script only run once with the last testdata and not loop thr all the testdata.
    Attached is my test plan and script files.

    Also tried the following but showed problem with multiple testdata or testcases.

    [ ] script: T:\VOB_QA\ta\common\SilkTest\Scripts\testpln.t
    [ ]
    [-] testing testcase to be invoked from test plan
    [ ] testcase: Test1
    [ ] testdata: "Data1", 1
    [ ] testdata: "Data2", 2

    Can U provide a sample of your 2nd suggestion ?
    Refer to a function name in the testplan which will read each row from the file and call the testcase 4 times with each set of data

    Thanks
    Desmond
