    Getting tags from an external database

    Hi,

    Does anybody generate include file tags by accessing a database? I use the Action / Data driven approach and all Data which SilkTest uses is stored in database. Can tags (for dynamic objects) be stored and retrieved on demand?

    The problem is that my testcase retrieves the record which has all data needed for execution of a single action and technically I could supply a tag data in this record but at this point the include file,GenTag() function used, is already read and declarations loaded.

    Basically, I want to generate a tag each time an action executed. Just wonder if it is possible to do.

    Any response is greatly appreciated.

    You could use dynamic instantiation and force the tag to be read....

    i.e.

    MyApp.MyPage.PushButton (GetTagFromDB()).Click ()

    I tried something like:
    Insure3Claims.MedicalProviderDetails.HtmlText ("Mr. John Smith").GetText()

    It gives me an error saying "Window '[HtmlText]Mr. John Smith' was not found".
    What is wrong?

    This is actually OK, I found out that this text was a part of Html table so as soon as I added the missing It finds it.

    Thanks James
