    Re: Bitmap tool

Yes the Bitmap Tool can be used standalone to compare bitmaps.

    Launch Bitmap tool.
Either load a bitmap via file/open or use the capture facility

From the Bitmap menu choose set Baseline. This will be the bitmap to compare against

From the differences menu choose Show or any of the other utilities to analyze the differences.

    Bitmap tool

Can we run the bitmap tool stand alone?

I mean can we do the bitmap comparesion from the command line and be able to get back the status if the comparesion failed or passed or there was some error?

    if so how?

Till now the only way I could think of was thru invoking silk from command line and running a testcase which wil do the job
but the problem is I am trying to use a testing tool (developed inhouse in vb) to do this comparesion but it doesn't have this capability so was trying to make use of bitview to that for me and be able to getback some kind of signal which will tell me if comparesion failed or passed.

Or Is there any other bitmap comparesion tool in the market?

    I am using silk 5.5 on winnt 4.0 sp6

    thanks

But this is not what I was looking for, I want to be able to do all this from the command line. Is that possible?

    eg.
    bitview file1 file2 compare(or some parameter)

it should be able to give me the status back on command line or in some other way which then I can access from other application.

I don't want to use the UI.

    Re: Bitmap tool

I was able to create a script that would run the bitmap tool.

    It takes 4 arguements:
base file and path STRING (d:\data\logo.bmp)
result file and path STRING (d:\data\logo2.bmp)
print results to res file STRING (Yes/No)
print results to test file STRING (Yes/No)

Using the command line start for SilkTest I specified the input parameters and the script does a comparison of two files and then outputs the comparison data.

Can't really be done from a commandline using bitview, only using it as a standalone application.

    Re: Bitmap tool

I also noticed that using SYS_CompareBitmap() and SYS_CompareBitmapCRC() on two file reveals that the files are diff. But the tool says they are the same.

Anyone notice this? What's going on here?

free activeX component that captures from screen and can create bitmap file which you could subsequently compare.

Sorry for intruding into the Silk area

AcuTest has the ability to dynamically search/compare bitmaps as well as perform OCR. Test scripts are VB based.
