    Browser Location Problem

    User sumitra (sumitra@prabodhan.com.nospam) posted:

    I am trying to test a web application using silk test. The problem is -

    * I have written code for starting explorer and stop loading of
    default page and then give desired URL using SetText() method of Location
    Combo Box. But when the execution reaches at this statement after completion
    of "Application Ready time", the script stops running with error
    "Application is not ready.".
    But when I run this script on different machines it runs well.So I
    compared all options of SilkTest 5.0.3 and IE 5 and they all are same.

    * Next I tried it in another way, I kept the default page as
    "about-blank" and I could use SetText() method of Location Combo Box but for
    the code "Browser.Location.TypeKeys("<Enter>") it gave same error that is
    "Application is not ready.".

    Can anybody help me in resolving the problem?

    User Avnish Pundir (apundir@cisco.com.nospam) posted:

    Well under normal conditions it mustn't give error. It seems there is some
    error with any extension (either in silk test extension or agent extension).
    Still you can try this option
    Use this option before saying LoadPage
    Agent.SetOption (OPT_VERIFY_APPREADY, FALSE)
    Don't forget to set it again after LoadPage using
    Agent.SetOption (OPT_VERIFY_APPREADY, TRUE)

    If even this doesn't work, can you send me the code sequence you are
    invoking before LoadPage. May be that would make current scanario much
    clear.

    Thanks
    Avnish

    Avnish,
    I tried the things what you have said.But still it is giving the
    same error. So I am sending you the code of testcase which I am invoking and
    the error which SilkTest is displaying in Result file. Hope we will get the
    solution.

    The Code :-

    [ ] string sUrlName
    [ ] Browser.Invoke()
    [ ] BrowserAuthentication.SetActive ()
    [ ] BrowserAuthentication.OK.Click ()
    [ ] Browser.SetActive()
    [ ] Browser.Stop.Click()
    [ ] Agent.SetOption (OPT_VERIFY_APPREADY, FALSE)
    [ ] Browser.LoadPage("http:\\...")
    [ ] Agent.SetOption (OPT_VERIFY_APPREADY, TRUE)
    [ ] Browser.SetActive()
    [ ] sUrlName=Browser.Location.GetText()
    [ ] Agent.DisplayMessage("Browser", sUrlName)

    The Error displayed in Results File :-

    [ ] *** Error: Application is not ready
    [ ] Occurred in Browser.Location.GetText

    Firstly I thought that the problem might be due to SilkTest is not
    installed properly so I reinstalled it but the problem persists.

    Re: Browser Location Problem

    Hi,
    The following script worked for me.
    [ ] string sUrlName
    [ ] Browser.Invoke()
    //[ ] BrowserAuthentication.SetActive ()
    //[ ] BrowserAuthentication.OK.Click ()
    [ ] Browser.SetActive()
    [ ] Browser.Stop.Click()
    [ ] Agent.SetOption (OPT_VERIFY_APPREADY, FALSE)
    [ ] Browser.LoadPage("http:\\...")
    [ ] Agent.SetOption (OPT_VERIFY_APPREADY, TRUE)
    [ ] Browser.SetActive()
    [ ] sUrlName=Browser.Location.GetText()
    [ ] Agent.DisplayMessage("Browser", sUrlName)

    and if ur still getting the problem increase the Agent.SetOption (OPT_WINDOW_TIMEOUT, 5)
    from 5 to 15.

    Thanks

    Rahul
