    IE Internal Frame

SilkTest does not recognize the controls in IE Internal Frame.

The application I'm using has several tabs, and I'm having problems recording fields within the IFrame with a vertical scroll bar. SilkTest doesn't recognize the field names correctly. For example, when I am in the finance tab, SilkTest recognizes a field in the finance tab as a field in the address tab.

    Has anyone else experienced this?

    Please advise.

    Re: IE Internal Frame

Sounds like you've got similar tags for items.

For example, if the tag of the parents (the frames) is the same (e.g.- "App Frame"), and there's an HtmlTextField object in two of them with a tag of #1, SilkTest will take the first (or is it last?) found in memory and think that's the one it's found. This may happen because of multitag statements, too.

A couple of things to try:
    <UL TYPE=SQUARE>
<LI> Try to have different tags for the parents. If using DOM, use the URL of the parent as the tag if the caption tags are the same.
<LI> If the objects inside the frames are using multitags, remove those and use single tags to make them unique. For example, if the multitag is "Address/#3", remove the "#3" Class Index tag.
<LI> Depending on how the page is being loaded, you may need to issue a GenerateDecl call to have SilkTest refresh its view of what's currently on-screen.[/list]

    I hope this helps.

    Re: IE Internal Frame

Thank you very much for your input, Dave.

I am experiencing addition problems where the fields on the same tab (but scrolled down within the internal frame - so basically, a scroll bar within the main IE scroll bar) are not properly recorded. For example, when I click on the City field, SilkTest will play back that I have clicked on the Name field, which is two fields directly above the City field... Strange, isn't it?

I will put your suggestions to good use. Thanks again for your help!

    Sam

    Re: IE Internal Frame

Are you using VO or DOM technology? I've seen strange things with VO after scrolling down is why I ask.

    Re: IE Internal Frame

    Hi Dave,

We are using DOM. I've contacted Segue and they are currently looking into this issue. I'll keep you posted.

    Thanks again,

    Sam
