Re: Get the tool to fit your dll needs - power your SilkTest
Check out Dan Appleman's 'Visual Basic Programmers Guide to the Win32 API', published by SAMS.
Get the tool to fit your dll needs - power your SilkTest
Recently I managed to control windows NT/2k's service with the help of advapi32.dll and some VB code exmples.
I was amazed how similar VB and Silk's synthax are. Conversion is very trivial.
Today I stumble upon this site http://www.allapi.net/agnet/apiviewer.php
(just go there and click the download link) which offers two tools, the api guide, and api viewer. The former one offers around 838 api examples(browse mode very clean in different language). The latter tool list the conversion of all the win32/16 apis to vb synthax. Which means it's a step easier to convert to Silk code, because VB doesn't use pointers either.
Anyhow you might be able to find what you need to do all these hard to do system stuff using the apis.
Few things to keep in mind when converting.
- case difference.
- type declaration difference
- in vb function returns using FuncationName=ReturnValue to return value.
- use 'out' to export value using parameters.
- for hex numbers VB use &H0001, Silk use 0x0001.
