    .res files eating up my freetime

    hi,
    can anybody tell me why, when i go to run a suite of scripts, i am presented with a 'failure to open (filename).res' message. the results file that is failing to open is one that is associated with the first testcase in my suite. each individual test runs correctly but they won't run together. can anybody help? is there a way to delete .res files and replace them with others? silk's help is not helping.

    One thing to try, look for a .jou file of the same name as the .res file. If it exists, delete it. Apparently it's some intermediate file that Silk occasionally leaves around and then your hosed until you delete it.

    If you do not want to use results (.rex) files, you can write to a .txt file or .xls file.

    HFILE hFILE //a handle to the new file
    STRING sPath = "D:\Data\MyResults.txt" //Path and file name to open
    //fmMode = FM_READ open for read only
    // FM_WRITE open a new file every time
    // FM_UPDATE append information to the file that already exists, if does not exist, create
    // FM_APPEND like FM_UPDATE but pointer at end of file

    hFile = FileOpen (sPath, FM_APPEND) //Opens the file for input
    FileWriteLine (hFile, "Start of Web Application Testing") //You use this format to write to the open results file whatever messages you want.
    FileClose (hFile) //Closes the text file

    If you write to an xls file, make sure your output is in a comma delimited format, then you do not have to read the data in to recognized by Excel, it will recognixe the format when you open the created file.
