Re: Creating Silk Performer Scripts in Silk Test?

SilkTest has such an option, under the "Record" menu, but if you do not have SilkPerformer installed on the same machine -- it will crash and burn -- giving a "Dr. Watson" in partner.exe.

One of those many SilkTest "features" that we quickly learn not to touch again :-)

    Hi there,

This feature is not that useful as Silk Test and Silk Performer does not share a common scripting langugae. I do not know if anybody is using this at all. My personal experience is this is not usefull.

I'm not sure what the point is, in having this functionality in SilkTest. I assume it could be so that you can record scripts for SilkPerformer as you record your SilkTest scripts.

However, I've never used it... I always record my SilkPerformer scripts from SilkPerformer.

Re: Creating Silk Performer Scripts in Silk Test?

We played with it a bit at my last job.
Because of the enormous log files created for SilkPerformer, I had to do the opposite of what I usually do. That is to say, I would record my way through a whole web app in SilkTest, then break everything down into functions and test cases by hand-coding. With the huge log files I had to record little bits and name files appropriately so it was possible to tell what was what.
Like Rob, it was something I didn't use for long. Except I didn't have any problems running it without SilkPerformer on the machine.

Re: Creating Silk Performer Scripts in Silk Test?

We don't have Silk Performer. We are trying to use this Silk Performer feature in Silk Test to get some info on code coverage, but we have had very little success so far.

It crashes with Watson error on 5.0.3.2 but works fine on 5.0.3.1 except for one minor issue - it doesn't save the .bdf file! It looks like its saving but the file cannot be found.

I have the browser set up with Proxy and a cleaned up cache.

Any ideas why the .bdf file is not getting saved?

    Thanks,
    Samy
